Our July 2021 Book Club Read - Between Us: A Mother & Daughter Workbook to Strengthen Communication by Dominique Robinson
Our June 2021 Book Club Read - He Who Finds A Wife: A Man's Guide to Finding the Woman & Love He Deserves by Stephan Labossiere
You guys know I enjoy short reads, and A Purpose Driven Woman by Felicia Shakespeare is a book that inspires, encourages, motivates, gives hope, and it will light a fire within your soul.
As I began reading this book, I could not put it down. I began to see myself, my family, and my friends within the lives of the 14 women who helped co-author this book. This manuscript is so relatable, heartfelt, and genuine, so much so that I began to hear myself speaking. And you ask, how is this? Well, in my very humble opinion, it is because purpose-driven women think alike, move alike, and dream alike. The thought, move, and plan may not be the same. Still, if you are a woman who has decided to begin taking steps to live your purpose, you will start to see a reflection of yourself in a mirror through the eyes of these lovely ladies who are doing precisely what you want to do.
You learn a lesson from every story within this literary work. The section titled A Path to Purpose by Felicia Shakespeare reminds us that when motion, movement, and meaning collide, we start to see our purpose. The section titled Daydream in Color and Pursue Greatness by Charisma Smith reminds us that your attitude determines your altitude. And the section titled My Journey to Becoming Soul Satisfied by Joyce Dawkins reminds us that there is no permission required to be who you desire to be in life.
If you had a section in this book full of memoirs, what would your advice be? There is no wrong answer. My contribution would be as follows:
So, if you're ready to transform your life and reach your goals, A Purpose Driven Woman will set you on the course to finally living out your calling.
I enjoy short reads, and True Friendship with Girlfriends by Licia Johnson is a short fiction read about two friends, Kendra and Aubrie, who share a friendship. The story displays how their friendship played out in connection with the other relationships they had outside of their friendship with each other. The book also highlights relationships with women in general and how jealousy and envy, waisted emotions, can tarnish and be unhealthy in relationships amongst women friends.
This short read encouraged me to reflect on the relationships I have with the people I call my friends. It made me truly reflect on whether those friendships are genuine, healthy, balanced, and if I am contributing to the friendship. This story is relatable as I have seen some of the scenarios within this story play out in my life, and it has and is disappointing when you take a step back and look in the mirror, or look at that friend, and you can feel that the connection is not real. Anyone who knows me and has read my books knows that valuing relationships is vital to me, but it is something that I have not done so well in the past due to my responsibilities and having my views of being the only child. Aside from the book's content, I was impressed by the smooth transition the author took to introduce me to the new characters in her story.
Please comment and share your thoughts on the book. Also, answer one of the author's questions at the end of the story and post it here! We'd love for you to share your review!
True Friendship with Girlfriends by Licia Johnson made me think of friendships and relationships with other significant people in my life; my dad, husband, cousins, aunties, uncles, to name a few. If you cherish a relationship, you fight for it, but you need to decide to live in your peace, be happy, or continue to force a piece in your puzzle that does not fit. At the end of this story, did Kendra and Aubrie make it? I know the answer, and if you read the book, you will too.

Continue to encourage our children to not only get a job, but remind them that they can be the boss of themselves. Expose our children to new and positive things, and when you see their eyes light up, run with that idea and do all that you can to help make that dream come to a reality. Our children are our future, and we can inspire them to boss up!
I hope this post finds you and your family well! Happy Holidays to You from S.H.E.!
We took this month to celebrate the veteran's (our heroes) and we gave thanks in a different way during the November Holiday of Thanksgiving! As we continue to realize what matters the most, let us reflect and appreciate what 2020 had to offer, and begin to plan for a better year (2021) incorporating tranquility in our daily tasks, keeping a positive balance in our emotional account, and valuing ourselves and the connections we make within our relationships.
What advice do you have to share during this holiday season?
First and foremost, I hope this message finds you well as we are all dealing with the pandemics, plagues, and other challenges of everyday life as we know it. We are in this together.
I have been away way too long and I have a couple of messages to send to June 2020 and July 2020.
My message to June 2020: I’d like to send a shout out to the men who have been great fathers, upstanding role models to their daughters and sons, the men holding down the fort, and making sacrifices for their family and loyal friends. Know that we need you. As women we can be independent, but together with you, we can rule the world. So, thank you for your contributions to our world this year. If you continue to make strides to become a better person, that will continue to bleed into the many roles you hold as a husband, brother, friend, son, and father. Happy Father’s Day!
My message to July 2020: To you, you are my freedom, faith, hope, humility, and pride. I salute to you who’ve played a role in the endeavor of my freedom. Happy Independence Day! And in celebration in this month, eat with me the most creative ice cream flavors your heart desires. As a matter of fact, indulge with me and eat your dessert before your dinner at least once this year.
And to my August 2020: You will bring clarity and great things. Also, in this month I am looking for eight women to collaborate and co-author the special edition of "Keep Him Coming Home with Love." We will share our commonalities and strengths as we embark upon our struggles and how a blessing came from upon those storms. We intend to give you a read to bring in the new year 2021 with hope, serenity, and peace.
If you are interested in being apart of the collaboration, please contact us with your interest and a snippet of your story!
As I sat next to my grandmother Janice as she lay in her bed at the rehabilitation facility, I asked her to tell me her story. Before she could begin, I said, "grandmother, let's not talk about that today. We can talk about it the next time we meet." And the next time we met is when she was in the hospital in hospice. She could barely speak, and later that day, she passed away.
I didn't get that opportunity to hear her unique story. I'd missed out. My fear of her dying held me back from gathering her history, wisdom, and mysteries. Although the thought of that moment remains a challenge for me, I began to learn a piece of my purpose, which is don't hold off until tomorrow what you can do today. Use fear as your motivation to move and live a little because, as far as I know, you only have one life to live.
When my husband created Showtime Wheelz YouTube Channel, that was the inspiration and motivation for me to move from fear to action in creating S.H.E. Publishing, LLC.
You and I will collaborate and not miss out on sharing our stories with the world. Embrace your history, learn of the mysteries, and create fantasies through book literature, letters, magazines, newspapers, business articles, interviews, family memoirs, and blogs!
Welcome to the world of creative innovations! Let's make our dreams come true together!
