For Gerald, the timing of this book was deeply intentional. Having worked in the recovery field and seen firsthand the diversity of needs and experiences, he felt that now was the moment to speak. His experiences have given him both the authority and the urgency to challenge traditional narratives and offer hope.

By sharing his truth, Gerald aspires to inspire others—whether they are in recovery, supporting loved ones, or simply seeking resilience in their own lives. His work reminds us that the human journey is never linear, and that strength is often found in carving out a path that is uniquely our own.

"A Voice that Challenges Old Narratives

Gerald’s journey into writing was sparked by a realization that many of the long-held myths and rigid theories in the recovery industry simply did not resonate with him. As he navigated his own path to sobriety, he discovered something crucial: recovery is not a one-size-fits-all journey.

“There were times when I was told the only way to get sober was this particular way that wasn’t working for me,” Gerald explains. “Today, I know that people can get to sobriety in ways that fit them.”

This perspective became the driving force behind his decision to share his story. His book is not only a reflection of his personal battles and victories but also an offering to others who may feel boxed in by methods that don’t align with their lives. Through his writing, Gerald provides an option he wished someone had given him: a more flexible, compassionate, and individualized view of recovery.
